Today I checked out Pastor Jeff Crippen’s excellent website which is called A Cry for Justice. Pastor Crippen writes about domestic violence in the Christian church. He often talks about the disservice Christians do when they try to counsel abused Christian women. Often Christian women are given these messages:

1. God hates divorce. If you divorce your abusive husband, you will be sinning against God.

2. We are called to love our neighbor, and your husband is your closest neighbor.

3. You need to forgive your husband, whether he repents and stops his abuse of you or not.

4.Your children are better off in an “intact” abusive marriage than in a divorced family.

Pastor Crippen refutes these grievous, erroneous statements. He makes some wonderful points using scripture from the bible.

I invite you to check out his post at A Cry for Justice.

I have created a Domestic Violence Guide for Churches. This guide teaches church leaders about the dynamics of DV and educates them on how to help those who experience it. Click here to preview it.

Please remember that God loves you, and does NOT want you to be abused. He loves you so much that He sent His one and only son to die a horrible death so that you could be with Him in eternity,

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16.
